Divisional Finance Director

Partner Financial has worked with Costa Coffee, part of the Whitbread Group, on crucial finance appointments in both the permanent and interim markets since 2009.  Following a restructure of the Costa Coffee business, Partner financial was requested to lead the selection exercise for a Finance Director for a newly-created business unit supporting high-growth areas of the company’s domestic and international operations.

With a clear brief and mandate, Partner Financial was instructed to go-to-market with an aim of securing a Finance Director with the capability to lead and drive an exciting area of the Costa Coffee business in close partnership with divisional and group level stakeholders.  With internal applicants also under consideration, Partner Financial undertook full formal interview and selection measures ensuring that both internal and external talent could be effectively benchmarked against the deliverables for the Divisional Finance Director role.

Through a process which generated in excess of 300 serious expressions of interest and upwards of 30 hours of selection interview time by Partner Financial, full candidate summary reports and presentations were prepared to offer genuine insight into a final 5-person shortlist.

Following the successful appointment of this position, Partner Financial worked extensively to provide full and proper feedback to unsuccessful applicants ensuring that representation of the Costa Coffee brand was maintained amongst senior finance executives who had dedicated significant levels of time and resource into candidate aspect of the selection process.
